Footwork Fundamentals in Badminton

Footwork Fundamentals

Good footwork is crucial for reaching the shuttlecock quickly and maintaining balance:

  • Ready Position: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight on the balls of your feet.
  • Lunges: Use lunges to reach shots close to the net. Push off with your back foot for stability.
  • Sidestepping: Move sideways quickly to cover the width of the court. Keep your feet low and maintain balance.
  • Split Step: A small hop that helps you quickly change direction. Perform it just before your opponent hits the shuttlecock to be ready for the next shot.
