Footwork Fundamentals
Good footwork is crucial for reaching the shuttlecock quickly and maintaining balance:
- Ready Position: Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight on the balls of your feet.
- Lunges: Use lunges to reach shots close to the net. Push off with your back foot for stability.
- Sidestepping: Move sideways quickly to cover the width of the court. Keep your feet low and maintain balance.
- Split Step: A small hop that helps you quickly change direction. Perform it just before your opponent hits the shuttlecock to be ready for the next shot.
